seven | never wanted to grow up

[Call Placement. Addressing: Mayfield. Filters: none.]

Requesting advice...

About teeth.  [He may be sounding a bit worried.]

Specifically, how do I... reattach one?

[Oh, the horrors of dental maturation. Slugger doesn't understand and suspects this is some unnatural and cruel act of nature.

ALSO, if you are one Edward Nigma, there may be something (not a tooth) hidden beneath your pillow. That something would happen to be a sheep's liver stolen from the local butcher shop. Consider it a "welcoming gift" from your new "son". Note that he has been courteous enough to wait only two days before stuffing it under there instead of the intended seven because he just couldn't contain his excitement.]

How long has it been out?

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
A couple days. [Fix it, Susan!]

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Too late. The wound will have begun to close already.

What happened?

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Too late??? He's getting worked up now. What disease is this?]

It was loose, then it got looser, and then it fell out.

[Actually, he has the tooth right here, in the back of his mouth where he's been keeping it in the gap with hopes of it reattaching itself. He takes it out to show her.

It's... a baby tooth.]

...What's happening?

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
. . . Oh. You had me thinking someone had gone and knocked it out of your head.

No, this happens with human children about your age. A new one will grow in soon.

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
[What.]

...

What?

So it's not a disease?

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Would you feel better if it was? I could invent something for you if you'd like.

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Shaking his head. He prefers the truth, but thanks anyway.]

Invent something...?

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Make sure you dispose of it properly. And don't put it under your pillow.

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would I put it there?

[Under a pillow... Does this mean she knows about the liver?]

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You wouldn't. And you shouldn't. Actually, it would be best if I held onto it, I think.

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
[This is a... strange request. He doesn't know what to say and simply hands over the tooth.]

...

[What's going on? Won't somebody explain?]

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Susan takes it with a nod. If it was left up to her, it would be ground to fine powder before the day was up.]

I'll give you some pocket change later.

. . .

It's a tradition in some worlds for children. When they lose their teeth, the Tooth Fairies come around and swap it for money when they leave it under the pillow at night

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Slugger has already met one faerie while he's been here so he can't be sure there isn't a tooth faerie in Mayfield.

However, nothing that's been said explains why Susan would take the tooth.]

You want them to come to you, instead?

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
The other thing people can do with teeth is mind control.

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Shock. As if by a face full of ice water.]

That's possible?? ...Is it like being droned?

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
. . . It's old magic. So old that it can't even properly be called magic anymore. When you get ahold of a part of somebody, you can make them think and do whatever you want.

I don't think it's like being droned, no.

[identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com 2010-11-26 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...

What are you going to do with the tooth?

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-27 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Force you to wake up on time, of course.

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-28 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'll see about destroying it.

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-28 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Keep that in mind if any other parts of your body start to fall off.

[identity profile] deaths-heritor.livejournal.com 2010-11-28 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
You'd need a good chunk of it. No one's insane enough to go around collecting enough hair for something like that.

. . .

[Actually, Teatime would.]

Well. Clean up the shower drain, anyway.
