At home
[Slugger opens his bedroom door, walks down to the kitchen, takes a seat at the breakfast table, and awaits his morning waffles and orange juice. Just like every morning.
Just like every morning...
He begins to breathe a little faster.]
At home; front steps
[The front steps are littered in pages and pages of notes. Surrounded by the papers, Slugger sits busily filling another page from front to back in quickly scrawled, progressively sloppy handwriting. Once finished he tears it out, throws it aside and begins to fill a new page. His hands tremble slightly.]

[Here with family or possibly wandering alone, Slugger stares blankly into the sky holding his bat close. Every so often, he reaches beneath his ball cap for a folded piece of paper, reads it, and puts it back.]

[He decides his pocket isn't a good place to put the note---he might forget it there---so under his cap it goes. It occurs to him that, while he may not know Luke well enough yet to tell with certainty if he's droned or not, there's something... off about his voice. Yes, he doesn't remember Luke sounding so American.]
Are you sure? ...Do you think I'm really your brother?
no subject
O-of course I'm your brother! Always have been, what kind of question is that?
Are you sure you're feeling okay?
no subject
But... how can we be brothers if I'm a monster?
[His own memories of Luke having always been his fraternal twin brother are becoming difficult to ignore.]

[Okay, he does love
terriblehorror movies, but that's not-- He is a monster! The note said so. By now they've reached the garage where a box of fireworks sets and almost instantly diverts Slugger's attention. Is that a bottle rocket? Yippee!]I'll get the box if you get the matches.
no subject
Right, got it!
[And he goes to fetch some matches. Hey, what's a July 4th without a bit of mischief
and possibly some lost limbs?]no subject
You want to light?

[His voice tries off as he pulls out the box of matches, staring at them. For some reason he has a really, really strong urge to make a puzzle out of these matches. And the strangest part was that he could visual it perfectly.]

...What is it?
no subject
Ah, nothing! I just thought of a puzzle for some reason.
no subject
[You always were the brainier one.]
no subject
[Did he really come up with an idea for puzzle like that? No, that can't be right. There was something oddly familiar about it.]

By the time Luke's done, it looks like this puzzle (http://professorlaytonwalkthrough.blogspot.com/2008/02/puzzle009.html)]

It's a dog.
no subject
...Have you seen this one before or was it that easy?
no subject
...
Luke. Did we have a dog? --named Maromi?
